Electric Car Trends in Turkey in 2026: Which Models Are Gaining Popularity?

The electric vehicle market in Turkey is no longer a limited sector where only a few models compete. Consumers now have access to a wide variety of electric vehicles featuring different body styles, range options, and price ranges.

According to results for January–August 2026 compiled from ODMD data, 105,951 electric cars were sold in Turkey. The share of electric cars in the total automotive market reached 18.8 percent. When hybrid vehicles are included, the combined market share of electric and hybrid vehicles was 51.9 percent.

These data show that car preferences in Turkey are rapidly shifting toward electric and electrified models.

The Most Popular Electric Cars in August 2026

In August 2026, a total of 11,878 electric cars were sold in Turkey. The most popular electric models of the month were as follows:

  1. Togg T10X: 2,939 units
  2. Togg T10F: 1,947 units
  3. KG Mobility Torres EVX: 1,602 units
  4. Volvo EX30: 805 units
  5. Citroën ë-C3 Aircross: 502 units

The Togg T10X and T10F sold a combined total of 4,886 units in August, accounting for approximately 41 percent of the electric vehicle market.

Monthly sales figures may be influenced by promotions, inventory, and delivery conditions. Nevertheless, the resulting data provides important insights into which vehicle features are of greatest interest to electric car users in Turkey.

1. SUVs and Crossovers Are Gaining Popularity

The SUV body style continues to hold a strong position in the Turkish automotive market. During the January–August 2026 period, SUV models accounted for 66.1 percent of the total automotive market, not just among electric vehicles.

Models such as the Togg T10X, KG Mobility Torres EVX, Volvo EX30, and Citroën ë-C3 Aircross—which are leading the way in electric vehicle sales—are also available in various SUV and crossover classes.

Factors such as spacious interiors, a high driving position, suitability for family use, and cargo capacity influence the choice of SUV models. In electric vehicles, placing the battery in the floor can also help make more efficient use of cabin space.

2. Domestic Models Are Gaining Momentum in the Shift to Electric Vehicles

The fact that the T10F has also achieved strong sales figures on the market, following the T10X, shows that interest in domestically produced electric cars continues.

The T10X, with its SUV body style, and the T10F, featuring a fastback design, cater to different user needs. This allows users who prefer electric vehicles to consider a different body style without being limited to just the SUV option.

Service networks, software support, connected car features, and solutions tailored to local user expectations are becoming just as important as technical specifications when choosing an electric vehicle.

3. Users Are Focusing on the Balance Between Price and Efficiency

During the January–August 2026 period, sales of electric cars with engine power below 160 kW increased, while sales of higher-powered vehicles declined.

Here The 160 kW value refers to the vehicle's engine power; it should not be confused with DC charging power.

This shift suggests that users are focusing not only on high performance but also on factors such as purchase cost, energy consumption, tax burden, and efficiency in daily use.

Just because an electric car has a powerful motor doesn’t always mean it has a longer range or charges faster. Vehicle weight, aerodynamics, battery capacity, energy consumption, and software management directly affect real-world performance.

4. Interest in Compact Electric Cars Is Growing

Compact models such as the Volvo EX30, Citroën ë-C3, and Kia EV3 are attracting the interest of consumers looking for a more practical electric vehicle, especially for city driving.

Compact electric cars;

  • Easier parking,
  • Lower energy consumption,
  • A range sufficient for daily use,
  • More affordable options compared to large electric SUVs

can offer.

For this reason, in the coming period, we can expect to see not only long-range and large SUV models but also compact vehicles designed for urban use become more prominent in Turkey’s electric vehicle market.

5. It’s Not Just About the Highest Charging Speed

One of the most commonly compared factors when choosing an electric car is the maximumIt is the DC charging power of the candle. However, the maximum power listed in the vehicle's technical specifications is not achieved throughout the entire charging process.

The actual charging time;

  • The initial charge level of the battery,
  • Battery temperature,
  • The vehicle's charge curve,
  • The power the station can provide,
  • Station density,
  • Weather conditions

They determine it together.

For this reason, when comparing vehicles, one should not only consider the question “How many kW does it charge at?” but also the time it takes to go from 10% to 80% and how long the vehicle can maintain its high charging power.

What Should You Consider When Choosing an Electric Car?

As the range of electric car options available in Turkey expands, choosing the right vehicle requires a more detailed evaluation.

Before choosing a vehicle, it would be helpful to answer the following questions:

  • Will you be using the car mostly in the city or on long drives?
  • On average, how many kilometers do you drive each day?
  • Do you have an AC charging option at home or at work?
  • What is the maximum AC charging capacity of the vehicle in kW?
  • Is the DC charging performance sufficient for long trips?
  • Does it have a heat pump and a battery pre-conditioning feature?
  • Does it meet your service, warranty, and software support needs?

For daily use, AC charging can be a practical solution if the vehicle is parked for long periods. For intercity trips, however, DC fast-charging support and the vehicle’s charging curve become more important.

Conclusion: There Is No Single "Right" Electric Car

Data from 2026 shows that the electric vehicle market in Turkey continues to grow, with SUVs and crossover models, domestically produced vehicles, compact options, and fuel-efficient cars taking the lead.

However, the best-selling model may not be the right choice for every user. The right choice should be made by considering daily driving distance, budget, the ability to charge at home, how often you take long trips, and the vehicle’s actual charging performance.

Powerşarj continues to support electric vehicle users on their in-city and intercity trips with its increasingly widespread AC and high-speed DC charging solutions.

No matter what car you drive, the energy of your journey is always with you thanks to Powerşarj.
